Research Areas
Since August 2017, I have held a FCT postdoctoral fellowship for 6 years (SFRH/BPD/125116/2016) on solar-pumped lasers with Prof. Liang. I have been working on solar laser research, contributing to other several published articles and one book. I have developed innovative solar laser prototypes, which resulted in five articles as first author. A new active medium, Ce:Nd:YAG, was investigated for the first time for solar-pumped lasers. The last work was chosen as featured content in the Journal of Photonics for Energy.
In 2019 and 2022, I participated actively in research projects at PROMES-CNRS, France, supported by the SFERA III Project. From the last mission in 2022, new advances on solar-pumped lasers were achieved using the Ce:Nd:YAG medium, resulting in one article as first author and two others as co-author. Records in solar laser efficiencies were achieved using a multirod laser system, whose work was highlighted by Laser Focus World.
I am a research team member of a 40k€ FCT Exploratory Project, which started in 2022.
I have been helping with the supervision of MSc and PhD students, contributing to several publications. In 2020, I started the co-supervision of a PhD student.
Our research team was invited by Springer-Nature to write a book on “Solar-Pumped Lasers”. The book has already been released. Two entire chapters have been written solely by me.
